Lyrics
[Verse 1]
After this, a feast of the Jews, Jesus went to Jerusalem,
By the Sheep Gate, a pool called Bethesda, where hope seemed dim.
Five roofed colonnades, a multitude of invalids lay,
Blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the water’s sway.
[Verse 2]
One man there, an invalid for thirty-eight long years,
Jesus saw him lying, knew his pain, his silent tears.
“Do you want to be healed?” He asked with love so true,
The man replied, “Sir, no one helps me when the waters move.”
[Verse 3]
Jesus said to him, “Get up, take your bed, and walk!”
At once the man was healed, stood up, no need to talk.
He took his bed and walked, on that Sabbath day,
But the Jews cried out, “It’s not lawful, put that bed away!”
[Verse 4]
The man replied, “The One who healed me, He told me so,
‘Take your bed and walk,’ His power made me whole.”
They asked, “Who is this man?” but he didn’t know His name,
For Jesus slipped away, through the crowd, He bore no fame.
[Chorus]
Truly, truly, He speaks, the Son of God so true,
Hear His word, believe, and let His light shine through.
From death to life we rise, no judgment will we know,
The voice of Christ will call, His love will overflow!
[Verse 5]
Later Jesus found him in the temple, said, “You’re well,
Sin no more, lest something worse upon you dwell.”
The man went out and told the Jews it was Jesus’ hand,
But they persecuted Him, for healing on Sabbath land.
[Verse 6]
Jesus answered them, “My Father works, and so do I,”
The Jews sought to kill Him, their anger rising high.
Not just for breaking Sabbath, but calling God His own,
Making Himself equal with the Father on His throne.
[Verse 7]
“Truly, truly,” Jesus said, “The Son does what He sees,
The Father shows Him all, their works in harmony.
Greater works will come, so you may marvel still,
The Son gives life to whom He chooses, by His will.”
[Bridge]
The Father raises the dead, His power lights the way,
The Son brings life to all, by His word today.
Honor the Son, lift His name with praise,
In Him we find our hope, for all our days!
[Chorus]
Truly, truly, He speaks, the Son of God so true,
Hear His word, believe, and let His light shine through.
From death to life we rise, no judgment will we know,
The voice of Christ will call, His love will overflow!
[Verse 8]
An hour is coming, and now is here, when the dead will rise,
Hear the voice of the Son of God, and live before His eyes.
All in their tombs will hear His call, come forth to destiny,
The good to life, the evil to judgment, eternally.
[Verse 9]
“I do nothing alone,” He said, “My judgment is just and true,
I seek the will of Him who sent Me, in all I do.
John bore witness to the truth, a lamp that burned so bright,
But My works bear greater witness, shining in the night.”
[Verse 10]
The Father Himself bears witness, though His voice you’ve never heard,
His word’s not in you, for you reject His chosen Word.
You search the Scriptures, thinking life is found in them,
Yet they point to Me, but you refuse to come to Him.
[Bridge]
Moses wrote of Me, his words still guide the way,
Believe in him, and trust the Savior here today.
I seek the Father’s will, His glory is my own,
Come to Me for life, and find your heart a home!
[Chorus]
Truly, truly, He speaks, the Son of God so true,
Hear His word, believe, and let His light shine through.
From death to life we rise, no judgment will we know,
The voice of Christ will call, His love will overflow!
